Webster's defines dwell as “to remain for a time” and “to live as a resident.”

Basically, to make yourself at home.

Whenever I think of the word DWELL, I think about the presence of God. I believe we were created to make ourselves at home there. His presence was never meant to be something we experience only in a church service, during worship, or in the few quiet moments we manage to carve out of a busy day.

His presence is for our everyday.

Our coming and our going. Our rising up and our lying down. The ordinary moments and the holy ones. The kitchen-table mornings, the car rides, the workdays, the conversations, and everything in between.

David writes in Psalm 23, “I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

What a beautiful invitation. Not to visit. To dwell.

So as you light this candle, let it be a reminder to make yourself at home in His presence. Stay a little longer. Become aware of the One who is already with you. Let His presence fill the ordinary spaces of your day until being with Him feels less like somewhere you go and more like where you live.

Light with intention. Pause. Breathe. Pray. Lean in, and let this word become an invitation to hear what God is speaking over you today.
