Shalom.

It's one of those words that holds so much more than its English translation.

We usually translate shalom as peace, but it carries the idea of wholeness, completeness, well-being. Things being as they were created to be.

Nothing missing. Nothing broken.

Shalom is God's perfect peace.

And God's peace isn't passive. It isn't just a quiet feeling we get when everything around us finally settles down. His peace is active. It enters into chaos and brings order. It meets what feels fractured and brings wholeness. It reminds our hearts that even when everything around us isn't right, we can be deeply rooted in the One who is.

Jesus didn't say we would only have peace when life was peaceful. He said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.” John 14:27.

His peace.

That's the invitation of SHALOM.

As you light this candle, invite the peace of God into every space. Your home. Your thoughts. Your relationships. The places that feel unsettled and the places that simply need to be brought back into alignment with Him.

May His shalom settle over you and everything that concerns you.
